Triple 7's Blackjack

Triple 7’s blackjack is a popular variation of standard blackjack that features an additional side bet and option to enter into a progressive jackpot.  This jackpot can potentially reach hundreds of thousands of dollars, and makes Triple 7’s blackjack a popular choice among blackjack players.

In order to win the progressive jackpot, you must receive a total of three diamond 7’s successively, beginning with the first card in your hand you are dealt.  Although the specifics of this requirement significantly lower the chances of winning the large side pot, it does make for an exciting game in a live or online casino!

These are the distinguishing characteristics of Triple 7’s, but the basics of the game are based on standard blackjack rules and strategies.  Variations of traditional blackjack allow for experts to continually learn and develop new playing strategies, and sometimes even have a shot at a larger pot.

Five decks of standard cards are used to play Triple 7’s.  This essentially means that five of the 7 of diamonds are available to try to get three successively.  More players at the table will reduce the chances of one person receiving three of these 7 of diamonds cards.

Dealer rules in Triple 7’s include that he or she must stand on 17 and hit on 16.  Splitting and re-splitting (even of aces) is allowed.  Other rules of Triple 7’s state that players are not allowed to split cards of the same value if they are not identical.

Players are not allowed to double after splitting a card or cards, and only hands of 9, 10 or 11 values may be doubled down.  Your dealer will also only allow each player to play one hand at any one time during Triple 7’s.

As with standard blackjack, Triple 7’s places a value of 10 on face cards, except for aces, which are either 1 or 11 (the player chooses which value to place on his or her ace, according to the hand they are dealt).  No more than 11 cards are allowed in one hand, and an ace and a card with a value of ten constitute a blackjack or “natural”.

Regular payouts of standard blackjack also apply to Triple 7’s as well.  This means that blackjack pays 3:2, insurance pays out 2:1, and any other winning hand doubles the cardholder’s bet.

However, the optional side bet is where the players get excited.  These bonus jackpots can significantly increase a player’s winnings through this progressive pot.

Players may win the progressive pot by receiving three 7 of diamonds successively.  Other pots may also be available, such as three 7s of different suits, but will be much less than the three diamond pot.  Alternative pots are typically also paid for three 7s of the same suit, as well as two 7s or one 7.

Triple 7’s offers a great way to increase your winnings when playing blackjack online or at a live casino.  Novices may find that the transition to Triple 7’s is quite easy after mastering traditional blackjack strategies.
