Deuces Wild Video Poker

Deuces Wild is a video poker game derived from Jacks of Better.  However, while Jacks or Better has no wild cards, all deuces (2s) are wild in this game.  Wild cards can take on any denomination needed to make a hand playable. In addition, this is one of the few video poker games where the theoretical return is more than 100%, coming in at 100.762%. Attaining this payout requires perfect game play based on an accurate strategy, though.  Other pay tables are used in the game as well, though they reduce the expected return.

As with all video poker games, Deuces Wild uses a standard machine, with 5 card slots.  Each slot houses one card and the Hold/Cancel button is located directly below the card.  The screen also displays information about how many credits remain for gambling.  The Deal/Draw button and the Max Bet button are located on the right side of the console, while the Cash Out button and the Bet One Credit button are located on the left.  Below the console are the bill/card accepter and the payout slot.  Game play begins when you insert your money, choose a wager amount and press Deal.

The lowest combination that can win is three of a kind, or three cards of the same face value.  Some machines for Deuces Wild allow you to Double Up after a winning hand.  If you choose to Double, the dealer (the machine) draws one card face up and displays 4 cards face down from which you can choose.  If you choose a higher value face card, you double your winnings.  A lower value face card (than the dealer's) means you lose your winnings.  Half Double is the same process, but using only half of your winnings, rather than all of them.  Deuces are not wild in these rounds.

You can choose to avoid Double or Half Double rounds and simply cash out your winnings, or play another actual hand.  However, the chances of a win with Double or Half Double rounds can be a tempting lure.  Many experienced gamblers will avoid the Double round and simply cash out, especially if the hand were particularly good.

Here are the hand values found in the game, listed from highest to lowest by the number of coins played.  Each number 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 coins, with 5 coins providing the highest payout for the hand.  The natural royal flush is the highest paying hand in the game, while the lowest paying is three of a kind.
