An Internet gambling corporation, Station Casino Property, based out of Panama, has been served with a lawsuit from Station Casino by the US District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. Station Casino, has accused the defendant of copyright infringement. Apparently Station Casino holds the copyrights to some of their US casino property names. Specifically, “Boulder Station,” “Palace Station,” and “Sunset Station,” which have been allegedly used by the online gambling company.
Station’s lawsuit has pronounced in their lawsuit that “Defendants’ actions have disrupted or are intended to disrupt plaintiff’s business by, among other things, diverting web users away from plaintiffs’ Web sites and to the online gambling website defendants linked to the infringing domain names.”
The website domain name reportedly re-routes web users to Golden Casino, an Internet gambling website, which is where the wrongdoing occurs. Defendants have yet to react to the charges brought up against them, but this isn’t the first time that they’ve been faced with a similar lawsuit. MGM Mirage filed a case against the company last year and won, receiving a $2.2 million settlement, as well as an injunction against Smart Answer, which is the company named in the lawsuit, the specific defendant being Susana Gonzales. To date, Smart Answer has not paid the fees, and MGM has dropped it because the fight just costs more than it’s worth.
