“Mega Moolah” Jackpot Finally Hits

At the Hard Rock hotel-casino a woman was fired because of a complaint she made regarding Dennis Rodman. Ultimately she won a judgment against him for $225,000. In 2006, Sara Ure, 28, filed a lawsuit against the former NBA star for harassment at her place of employment. She was the beverage manager at the hotel. In her lawsuit she said that he grabbed her, forced her to dance, and slapped her bottom.

Ure claimed that she was told Rodman would be banned from the premises, but they allowed him there again, causing yet another scene. She said that she was fired after she complained to management for the second time. At first she filed a discrimination claim, explaining that she was unfairly fired because of complaining about the work environment. Ure resolved the claims with the hotel after entering mediation, while Rodman did not even respond to the allegations.

In the April 21 motion for default judgment, attorneys Kathleen England and Jocelyn Cortez said, “Defendant Rodman injured and humiliated Ms. Ure at her place of employment, which is simply one of the latest incidents in an almost decade-long practice of violence and blatant disregard for the safety of others.”

Ure’s attorneys said Rodman, “grabbed and held Ms. Ure against her will, forced her to ‘dance’ with him in the middle of her place of employment, and rubbed his body against hers. Defendant Rodman then smacked Ms. Ure on the bottom when she managed to escape from his grip. This demeaning assault and battery occurred in front of at least one of Ms. Ure’s subordinate employees, her co-workers, and Hard Rock Casino patrons.”

This is not the only incident in which Rodman has allegedly assaulted employees at Las Vegas casinos. In 1997 a Mirage casino dealer was battered by Rodman. There are also at least five other similar cases as well.

The attorney’s concluded that, “These cases demonstrate a clear pattern of defendant Rodman’s unabated violence against unsuspecting individuals.”
