Paula Abdul Odds of Returning to American Idol

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Diva, Paula Abdul is no stranger to the spotlight, whether it is good or bad attention, she seems to thrive off the drama. Now that she is “leaving” the world famous television show, American Idol, the gambling world has picked up on it and is making every penny possible off of her. Since nothing is official yet, betting sights are taking wagers from bettors that say she will come back to the show, as well as those who believe she will not return, apparently so strongly that they are willing to put money on it.

Idol producers are just about fed up with crazy antics. They have negotiated an abundance of contracts with different offers and nothing seems to make Paula happy. Why should she receive a raise when she allegedly shows up to recordings under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs? She is apparently happy being the center of attention, at any rate, even when it’s negative attention; she’ll take whatever she can get. Abdul has been accused of showing up for interviews intoxicated as well, so maybe they should take bets on whether she’ll be sober at her next appearance to the public.

While Abdul publicly announced that she will not return to the show after co-star Simon Cowell was offered a sizeable raise and she wasn’t, American Idol producers are still trying to entice her back because they know how much the public loves her. Furthermore, it is likely that the show’s producers are fearful that the iconic program won’t be the phenomenon that is previously was without Abdul on the panel, especially considering how ill-received Kara DioGuardi was when she joined the show in the 8th season last year.

Rumors are that there is one final offer on the table for Abdul, for now anyway. Whether or not Abdul is bating producers or is really just over the experience all together is unknown. If you have a hunch, then perhaps you should put your money where your mouth is!

Tiger Woods Loses and Costs Paddy Power $1.25 Million

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Tiger Woods has been putting smiles on golf lovers faces for over five years, but this wasn’t the case at the PGA Championship last Sunday. As upset as Tiger was, it was nothing compared to the operators over at Paddy Power. Mr. Power himself was oozing with disgust over Tiger’s loss. Paddy Power is the director of communications, for the Irish bookmaker that shares his name. Mr. Paddy had to watch the last round of the PGA at the Hazelnut National Golf Club from the restroom because he was that sick to his stomach. “I had to,” Mr. Power laughed as he talked to Casino City on Thursday. “I was as sick as a parrot.”

As with good reason, with all the people that had bet on Tiger to win the championship, Mr. Power, was quickly made quite powerless, as he owed an enormous amount of money. Being the bookie is not all fame and glory. Tiger lost to a no-name Korean, Y.E Yang, who cost Power $1.25 million. Paddy made the hardest decision of his life to pay off all his betters all at once Friday night, before the game was even over.

“It’s something we like to do from time to time to prove to our punters that we’re willing to take a chance too,” he said. “Our bettors take a chance every day when they place a bet. We like to show that we’re not afraid to gamble either. And we’re usually right more often than we’re wrong.”

Power would definitely take wagers for Tiger again, as he has faith. Even though this last loss cost his company more that it had ever lost before. “Chances are that if Tiger is in that position again, he’s going to win,” Power said. “Would we be stupid enough to do it again? Probably. Watch this space. It could happen.”

Hop-on, Inc. Mobile Gambling in Real Time

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Hop-on, Inc. announced in April that they have finalized an Interactive Wagering License Agreement with The European Union Company to take wagers from EU and Asia bettors.

Now with real time access from their mobile phones Hop-on’s newly improved software will allow players access to gaming via their mobile phones anywhere, anytime. This instant access is opening doors for a new way to gamble which has not previously been possible before, referred to as “on the spot” interactive mobile gambling. With Hop-on’s mobile gambling software, users will be able to place their bet instantly while the event is in process, allowing bets on who will score the next touchdown in a football game or who will hit the next home run in a baseball game in progress, in real time.

Hop-on’s exclusive software operates via streaming live interactive feed sent from legal jurisdictions on personal cell phones. Hop-on is currently building up their services to incorporate value-added services, like mobile gambling and SMS wagering. In order to finalize the deal, Hop-on will seek third party authentification for the software. Everything is set in gear to make this a legitimate gaming system that gamers will feel secure betting in. Unfortunatly, however, this license agreement won’t allow bettors from players from the US to participate in on the spot wagering. Hop-on will be available, though, for wagerers from other legal jurisdiction all over the world.

President and CEO of Hop-on states, Peter Michaels says, “This is a killer application, proposition wagering in real time! With the economy being difficult, Hop-on is looking for alternatives for a recession proof business model. This license agreement will pay ongoing royalties that will grow as the attraction spreads through the players. We are excited about finally launching our gaming technology in Europe.”

Michaels continues, “Online, worldwide wagering from legal jurisdictions will be likened to a broken slot machine for Hop-on and our shareholders. When slot machines are broken, the payouts attract much attention and play. As in Las Vegas, it wasn’t built on players winning; it was built on the casinos’ profit.”
