Privé has been a happening late-night party spot in fabulous Las Vegas for the rich and famous, as well as for the not-so-famous. Unfortunately though, the Planet Hollywood Resort club was shut down recently due to temporary issues with their liquor license. But Friday night it was back in full swing.

Privé and its sister club, the Living Room, both of which were liquor-less, were able to obtain temporary liquor permits, just in time too, only five hours before they planned to open last Friday night. The crowd was read—the line outside the club stretched all the way around the building. Many of the club-goers were tourists from California, who had traveled all the way to the east coast in New York to partake in the steamy parties that Privé is famous for. Most weren’t even aware that they had been temporarily closed. But luckily for them, they got to experience what they came for and didn’t even mind standing in line.

“The weekend is about visitors to the city,” said Planet Hollywood founder and resort co-owner, Robert Earl. “I am expecting them not to even be aware of the problems that occurred because they’re a crowd, who in the last month haven’t been to town.”

At 12:30 a.m. the party kicked off when the famous rapper, Jermaine Dupri, walked into the club. As he began to spin the turntables, the dance floor turned into an ocean of ready to party people. The platforms were back alive with exotic dancers, and the Patron and Moet were flowing by the bottle. It was as if Privé never missed a beat.
“A nightclub is an important component of each of the properties on the Strip,” said Earl. “It brings a different crowd at different hours that consume different product.”
“The reality is there is nothing that has happened that would really concern the patrons,” Roman Jones, owner of Privé explained Friday. “But we’re going to be very, very careful to manage.” Privé lost their right to sell alcohol in July, after several offenses involving alcohol, due to irresponsible management. They also had to appear before courts for allowing nudity inside the club. The club is now enforcing strict rules in regards to checking I.D.’s at the front door (which could have attributed to the line) and monitoring alcohol consumption.

“I’m going to be spending much more time on property until I feel confident that the operation is running smoothly and to the level we want and the community expects,” Jones commented. “Once we go through this process, it’s going to bring a higher standard to all nightclub operations in Las Vegas. The outcome will be positive.”
